What are your key skills / interests / passions that you would bring to Vestry?
I am a lifelong Episcopalian. I have been an advocate and trainer for Safe Church at Emmanuel since it was brought to our diocese. I am familiar with Diocesan events and known to the Diocesan staff. I have served on Vestry at Emmanuel with two prior rectors and served as Sr Warden during my second term. I have a large volume of institutional knowledge of Emmanuel and while things have changed because times, people, etc. have changed, I am very familiar with Emmanuel and its contributions to Staunton.
Biographical details
I have been a member of Emmanuel since 1997. My three grown children were raised at Emmanuel and still tell stories of fun youth events, their love for Ms. Barbara and wonder at the many influential people that have touched their lives from this amazing church family. I have served on the Vestry twice before and was Sr Warden one term. The connections, the lay led ministries and the ability to have a loving, inclusive church family are why my parents agreed that Emmanuel was the place to "be" and joined in 2017 when they moved to Staunton. Being raised in the Episcopal church is what brought me through the doors, but the love from the congregation and the drive to care abundantly for others by the clergy, congregation and staff is what has kept bringing me back every week since.
