We do not use third-party marketing or advertising trackers such as Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics on our own site. Third-party platforms we link to — including YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram — have their own data collection practices governed by their respective privacy policies.

  • Respond to contact form submissions and requests for pastoral care or facility use • Deliver our weekly newsletter and special announcements to subscribers who have explicitly opted in through Constant Contact 

  • Coordinate volunteer scheduling through SignUpGenius 

  • Process online offerings and member portal access through Realm 

  • Improve and maintain our website 

  • Comply with applicable legal obligations 

We do not use your information for marketing purposes unless you have explicitly opted in to receive communications from us. You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

  • SignUpGenius: Used for volunteer and worship scheduling. See signupgenius.com/privacy. • YouTube: We stream Sunday services and post recordings to our YouTube channel. See youtube.com/t/privacy.

  • Facebook and Instagram: We maintain official pages on both platforms. Interactions on those platforms are governed by Meta's privacy policy. 

  • Text-to-Give (73256): If you use our text-to-give service, standard message and data rates may apply through your carrier. Text STOP to cancel or HELP for help at any time. 

We do not sell your personal information under any circumstances. 

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law, accounting, or reporting obligations — generally no longer than three (3) years unless a legal or canonical requirement applies. 

Cookies and Tracking 

This site uses cookies provided by Wix, our hosting platform, to ensure basic website functionality (such as security and navigation). We do not deploy additional marketing or advertising cookies. Emmanuel Episcopal Church is a religious institution of The Episcopal Church. As a nonprofit religious organization, we qualify for an entity-level exemption from the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA) and similar state privacy statutes. This Privacy Policy is not a representation that those statutes apply to us, and nothing in this policy is intended to create rights or obligations under those statutes where none exist by law. 
That said, we believe in treating the personal information entrusted to us with care and respect, consistent with our values as a community of faith. As a voluntary practice — not a statutory obligation — we are generally willing to: 

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you upon a reasonable written request 

  • Correct information you identify as inaccurate or incomplete 

  • Delete personal information you no longer wish us to retain, where doing so does not conflict with recordkeeping needs, canonical obligations, or legitimate church administration 

  • Stop sending you marketing or newsletter communications at your request

We will respond to reasonable requests in a timeframe that reflects the size and volunteer nature of our parish staff, and we reserve the discretion to decline a request where fulfilling it would conflict with our recordkeeping, governance, or ministry obligations. 

Children's Privacy 

Our website is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our site, please contact us so we may delete it.
