Spiritual Growth

There are many ways for Emmanuel members and guests to learn about God's love and grow in their faith. To learn more, click on the contact person's name to email them, or contact the church office.
Lenten Devotionals
In past years, Emmanuel members have written personal reflections on Lenten readings. These have been collated into a collection of Lenten devotionals so that we all can learn from one another as we reflect on God's Holy Word. Our recent compilation for the season of Lent for 2019, can be found here: Lenten Devotionals.

Education
We have offerings for all ages, most of which take place on Sunday mornings 9:30-10:30, during the school year. Nursery care is available for the littlest ones on the lower floor of the building before and during the 10:30 a.m. service (10:00 a.m. in the summer).

Adult Christian Education
The Adult Christian Education meets each Sunday. They discuss scripture, books, or other topics selected by group members. Anyone who wants to participate or help lead any part of the Christian Education offerings is certainly welcome! Sunday morning at 9:30am (9:00 a.m. in the summer) in the Guild room.

Wednesday Bible Study
Age group: Adults
The Bible study group meets at 12:45 - 2:00pm in the Guild room (not in the summer).

Children's Christian Education

Confirmation Class
Age group:
7th graders and 8th graders
Classes usually begin in the Fall and are determined by the Bishop's visitation. We meet two Sundays per month during the Sunday school hour (specific schedule TBD). We will be seeking Mentors from the congregation for this group of confirmands. This is a great way for our young people to get to know other members of our church family.

Adults
Adult confirmation class is led by the rector, generally preceding the Bishop's visits.

Centering Prayer Group
Age group: Any
Group meets weekly on Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m. There is a 20-minute silent prayer followed by discussion. Everyone is welcome to join.

Lectio Divina
Age group: Any
Weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m. Through an ancient practice of listening to scripture alternating with periods of silent prayer, we listen for God's voice and direction. The session ends with Compline, a short evening worship service.
