Lay Ministries

 There are many ways to put your faith in action and get involved in the life of our church! Click the contact person's name to email them for more information.
Acolytes
Age groups: torchbearers - beginning at age 10 or 4th grade;
Crucifers - age 12 or 6th grade to adult
Lead the procession, including the Gospel procession, and assist
during service with communion. Training is usually held in September;
​arrangements can be made as needed.

Intercessor
Age groups: Youth through adult
Reads the Prayers of the People on Sunday mornings.
​Assignment is given via email.

Lector
​Age groups: Youth through adult
Read the lessons, First Reading, Psalm, and Second Reading,
each Sunday and on special occasions during the service.
​Training required.

Training - Jim Lott 

Usher
Age group: Youth through adult
Assist congregation during services.
Provide attendance count, hand out bulletins, assist with communion
direction, as well as with congregation inquiry.

Eucharistic Ministers (Chalicists)
​Age group: Adults and youth 16 and older
Assists Rector in preparing for communion and during the communion
service by distributing bread or wine. Volunteers will be trained to serve.
​Must be confirmed Episcopalians and licensed by the Diocese.

Scheduling -

Eucharistic Visitors
Age group - Adults
Takes communion to those who are not able to attend church.
​Must be confirmed Episcopalian and licensed by the Diocese.

Counter
Age group: Adult
2 counters - One lead and a helper - count the money received
in the offerings each Sunday and at other services.

Choir
Age groups: 10 years and older are welcome to join.
The choir leads the singing of hymns and service music weekly
and provides anthems and special music. The choir sings at the
10:30 am service each week from September through May. Choir
​rehearsal is on Sunday mornings at 9:00-10:15 am in the sanctuary.

Sound System Operator
Age group: Youth and Adult
Operate the Sound System during the Sunday morning service
​and at other times as needed.

Altar Guild
All age groups
Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the altar for communion, maintains flower schedule for altar arrangements.

Christian Education Teacher
For Youth:
Help teach God's word to our school-aged children. All volunteers working with children and youth muct have completed Safeguarding God's Children training, and per our church policy, two adults (21 and older) must always be present when working with youth. (Note: 18 -20 year olds may teach, but two adults 21 and older must be present as well)

For Adults:
​Adult Christian Education meets on Sunday Mornings, and there are opportunities for leading these classes as well.

Groundskeeping and Building Upkeep
Age group: all ages
Help  rake, shovel snow, pull weeds, trim hedges, clean brass fixtures, and otherwise help take care of our beautiful building.


Nursery Sitter
Nursery care is offered at the 9:30a.m. Sunday School hour
and at the 10:30 am service (offered only at the 10:00a.m.
service in the summer) for children ages 0-5.
Volunteers who have completed Safeguarding God's Children
training are welcome to help our nursery staff member Barbara
Bryant. Our guidelines require that two adults (21 or older) always be present
​with children at church.
