Happy Easter!
The Lord is risen indeed!

This year's Easter Sunday Feast of the Resurrection services (on April 16) took place in an atmosphere of joyous celebration, remembering the victory of Jesus Christ over death. The 10:30 Holy Eucharist service began with an organ prelude by Sarah Grove-Humphries, accompanied by Ruby Preston on the trumpet. Afterwards, the children gathered for the annual Easter egg across the street, enjoying perfect weather.

Easter lilies on altar

Easter lilies (on the altar and in front of the pulpit and lectern) were bought by church members in memory of, or in honor of, family members and other loved ones.

Easter egg hunt

After the Holy Eucharist service, an Easter egg hunt was held for the children on the lawn of Stuart Hall School across Frederick Street.

Palm Sunday 2017

On April 9, Emmanuel Episcopal Church once again joined with other churches in downtown Staunton for the annual Palm Sunday procession. The weather was ideal for the outdoor event. The 11:00 service held immediately afterward featured a special choral prelude ("Hosanna, Loud Hosanna") and a reading by members of the congregation of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Matthew.

Second Sunday Soup

On February 12, Emmanuel held its monthly Second Sunday Soup. Sharon Sproul won the "coveted" (!) Golden Ladle Award for her delicious chicken and wild rice soup.
