| Christmas | December 25 through January 5 (The Twelve Days of Christmas!) |
| Epiphany | January 6 (The arrival of the Three Kings through Shrove Tuesday, a.k.a. Mardi Gras.) |
| Lent | The forty days (excluding Sundays) from Ash Wednesday through the Great Vigil, just before Easter. |
| (Holy Week) | The last seven days of Lent, from Palm Sunday to the Great Vigil on Saturday. |
| Easter | Easter Sunday (earliest is March 22; latest is April 25), the Day of Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the 50 days thereafter. |
| Pentecost (Trinity) | From the Day of Pentecost * (formerly called "Whitsunday"), when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles, and for at least 22 but not more than 27 Sundays thereafter |
The Church calendar is based upon Easter Sunday, which is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal (spring) equinox. The "movable feasts" are: Easter, Septuagesima Sunday, Ash Wednesday, Ascension Day, Pentecost, and Advent Sunday.
* For the Day of Pentecost itself, the ecclesiastical color is RED.
